How To Wear the Pom Pom Trend Without Looking Like a Preschool Craft

Happy Friday sista friends!! Finally the weekend! (Well almost.)

Since Fridays are always fun and happy, I figured I would share a fun and happy outfit to match! This is the perfect kind of weekend style for day dates (or really, any date), shopping or dinner with the girls, brunch, etc. This is a great outfit option for your weekend day plans before you go home to change for a night out.

I want to focus on the bright, colorful accessories in this outfit. If you haven’t yet noticed, pom poms and tassels are some of the biggest (and best) trends of the season. They were actually a huge trend last summer as well, but hey! They’re back! Personally, I love them because these trends fit in with my particular style. What I love so much about the pom pom trend is that you can choose to go with a bright look that shows off so many fun colors or you can find pieces that are more neutral and subtle. I love both options, so when I choose to showcase this trend, I just try to think about what I’m feeling for that day before deciding on the pieces and colors of my #ootd.

With all of that said though, you definitely have to be careful when styling your trendy, pom pom look …

Shop the post:

white long sleeve tee | white denim cuffed shorts | colorful, pom pom wedges | similar tassel bracelets (I bought mine at our local Target but linked a similar style.) | similar pom pom floppy hat (& here) | LV Neverfull GM

Pom poms are SO fun, however, when incorporating this trend into your wardrobe, you have to make sure to style these pieces in the right way because if not,  you may end up looking like a kid’s preschool craft that should be hanging on the refrigerator instead of hanging on your body. They can be really easy to overdo. And trust me ladies, there is nothing cute about that!

However, when worn the right way (basically – in moderation), these adorable fuzzy baubles can definitely help liven up any basic outfit! They can take a plain LBD and give it just the right amount of color to bring that little dress to life. They can certainly amp up just a plain, basic outfit like the white shirt and shorts that I have on in this post. Or they can even stand alone if they are accented on a dress or romper!

The most important thing to keep in mind when styling the pom pom trend is to never go overboard. If you have a plain outfit, pick 2-3 accessories to showcase the trend, or if you have a dress or a top that has a lot of pom detailing, then just pair it with a more basic shoe and accessories. Always remember ladies – save the craft time for the kiddos. 😉

Here are some more of my favorite pieces that show off this trend:

Do y’all have fun weekend plans? I’m about to head out to shoot some fun looks to show you guys and then all of us ‘kids’ are heading over to my mom’s later for a little family pre-Easter dinner! Pretty low key night for this girl, which you won’t hear me complaining about! Hope y’all have a fab weekend and a very Happy Easter!
