The ‘In Between’ Weather

We’ve all been there … well, at least if you live in Tennessee you have been! The ‘in between seasons’ stage. In the mornings, it’s pretty chilly (or if you’re like me, it’s FREEZING) and by the time 3:00 rolls around, it is in the 80’s (sometimes 90’s). So … the big kicker is: WHAT DO I WEAR?! The struggle everyone can relate to.

As you all can probably tell by now, I’m alllll about some layering. Whether it’s layering tops with long vests/cardigans/jackets or adding a scarf and flannel – I’m usually all for it. Honestly, there’s hardly ever a time I won’t have some kind of layering going on with my ootd. If you are like me, you won’t have any trouble going from those chilly mornings to the warmer afternoons while those end of summer and beginning of fall temps are colliding. (Yes yes, I know a lot of states are already in full-fall force, but a lot of my southern gals can probably relate 😉 )

It’s pretty simple to make it through this awkward weather stage with the many different outfit styles that are so in right now. Between tying your jacket, flannel or chambray shirt around your waist & throwing your moto, bomber or leather jacket over your shoulders for a chic (yet, WARM) look, you are set to conquer these crazy, indecisive temps until we get fully set into the season.

As for all of you boot lovers (like me) out there, I know sometimes it gets pretty toasty at the end of the day when you wear your tall or over-the-knee boots. My best advice for that is to pair your OTK boots with jeans and a sleeveless top (+ your fave jacket), or pair them with a lightweight dress or skirt. If you would rather wait for the cooler weather to rock your taller boots all together, just strut it in your fave booties until then, & you’ll have the same ‘fall’ vibes going on. I’ve been testing out this strategy and wearing my booties for almost 3-4 months now!

On that note … I have gotten TONS of questions from my girlfriends and some of you beautiful readers about it being too early to start wearing boots. My answer: ABSOLUTELY NOT. Actually, I am almost flirting with the idea of it never being too early. I wear my booties even throughout the summer months with shorts, & as soon as I see that first fall leaf hit the ground, I break out my taller boots (+ my pumpkin & caramel coffee/candles of course).  Basically what I am getting at is if you’re not wearing your boots yet, I recommend that you break them out first thing tomorrow morning. 🙂

I also want to give a special shout out to The Coral Cross Unique Jewelry! My super talented friend, Lauran, is the owner & designer, and she totally rocks at making some killer pieces of unique, handmade jewelry. She made the necklace I am wearing in this post & I have literally lost count of how many times I have worn it (& how many DIFFERENT ways I have styled it). My favorite thing in particular about this necklace (& many of her pieces) is that it’s actually two separate strands of pearls (one short & one long), and you can make it a bracelet, a choker, two layers of necklaces, or a long single necklace as I have styled it here. I love versatile pieces like this. The Coral Cross actually designed and handmade all of my bridesmaids’ jewelry for my wedding day & my girls and I were IN LOVE with how it all turned out. To custom order, go to their Facebook page or contact The Coral Cross via email at thecoralcross@gmail.com.

Thank you for reading pretty ladies – hope you are having a FAB (& stylish) week!
