DRESS: Free People (sold out, but a similar look HERE) | KIMONO: Miss Selfridge (I got mine in Paris, but I just found it HERE on sale – WOO!) | BOOTIES: Jessica Simpson (dupes HERE {love these!}, HERE & HERE) | HAT: Zara | MY EVERYDAY JEWELS: Kate Spade, David Yurman & Pandora

Y’ALL … let’s just talk about this huge velvet trend for a second. I AM TOTALLY IN LOVE. Is anyone else going crazy over it like I am?? I actually got this velvet Free People dress a few years ago because I’ve always had an obsession with wearing mixed materials, but now I love it even more because velvet is coming in so big right now. (I may or may not have gifted myself with some new velvet boots just recently 🙂 I can’t wait to share those with y’all!)

Along with my love for velvet and mixing materials, comes my love for lengthy kimonos, jackets, cardigans, vests, etc etc etc… I am 5′ 7″ so I love adding some lengthy layers to my outfits. QUICK TIP: All of my girlfriends are pretty short (compared to me) and at times they don’t think they can pull off looks with some longer layers, but to all of you ‘itty bitty’ ladies, IT’S POSSIBLE – trust me! I’ve styled some of my petite friends with some long (for them) kimonos before, and basically all I did was look for a kimono that would be semi-short on me and then- BOOM – perfect for someone closer to 5′ even. So many pieces are made different than others and will fit people differently, so my advice to you if you are a little on the shorter side, is to just try on several options and find what length you are comfortable with. If you get the right length for your body type, it will not make you ‘look shorter’ contrary to popular belief. It will only upgrade your outfit and your wardrobe! Step out of your comfort zone little by little, and then you will look back and be SO glad you did!

I actually got this beaded kimono in Paris while I was there studying abroad (take me baaaack). It is actually pretty heavy because of all the beading, but I got a great deal on it and thought it would be a great statement piece to have in my closet as a memory from one of the best trips of my life! I love pieces like this. [I also love pairing it with the Zara leather shorts (in my last post) and a cropped top or bodysuit.] PS – I found the kimono on sale for y’all – deets tagged above!

I decided to pair this boho chic look with my Jessica Simpson black, suede booties. Ya can’t go wrong with a bootie … and I’m talking about the shoes 😉 I love that the gold zipper exposed on this bootie pulls out the gold in the kimono, while the silver ties right in to complete the metallic vibes. My latest obsession is mixing metals – whoever said gold and silver don’t go together?! I just did my whole wedding AND my dining room in mixed metallics/metals, and I’m in love. These boots are from last winter, but I linked some above that are similar and oh so cute.

Lastly, I threw on my go-to favorite accessory – my black Zara hat (insert all heart eye emojis here). If you know me, you know I am totally a hat girl. I love any and all kinds of hats, and honestly, I wear them at least twice a week. They just take your entire look to the next level and make you stylishly stand out from the crowd. And let’s just be real for a minute … we could all use an extra ‘dirty hair’ day when you wake up in a rush … so why not throw on your fave hat & call it a day! Quick, easy and absolutely adorable! I have plenty of hats I’ll be sharing with y’all on here, so if you love them like I do or you are just starting to try out this look, STAY TUNED!

[I’ve linked a few more of my favorite velvet options for y’all below – check it out!]
