Wedding Wednesday: Florals

Your wedding flowers are like the accessories to an awesome outfit – they can make it or they can break it.

Flowers and greenery are something that I have always loved (but what girl doesn’t love flowers?). They always brighten up a room, any occasion or simply someone’s day! Back when I was planning my wedding on Pinterest (before I was even engaged .. I mean, every girl does it so don’t feel ashamed if you already have your dream wedding day outlined on your Pinterest board), I had this amazing thought that my wedding would be covered with florals everywhere you turned. Well, a girl could dream!

Before planning my own wedding, I didn’t realize how expensive everything with the word ‘wedding’ in front of it actually was. However, after I found my dream ballroom for our reception (read about that HERE), I quickly realized that I didn’t need much decor in general for it to look absolutely gorgeous. The venue itself had so much character and beauty of its own, and I didn’t want to take away from that with loads of flowers and decor. With that said, I knew after touring my venue that I wanted neutrals only for my flowers. And actually, there was absolutely no color in my wedding at all (besides our red lips, of course). I wanted to keep everything classic, romantic and elegant, so I decided to stick to metallics, whites / ivory, and greenery for pretty much everything in our wedding. After finally deciding what color scheme we wanted to go with, I was in search for the perfect florist who could make my visions come to life, while staying within my budget! That’s when the amazing Sam from Florals by Samuel Franklin came to the rescue! Take a look at how he worked his magic:

Isn’t Sam so talented?! And he was beyond helpful too! I don’t really know the names of too many flowers – I just know what I like when I see them. So, to start off the process, he showed me many examples to help me narrow down my choices of flowers and greenery that I wanted to use. My favorite flower is the peony, so I definitely wanted some of those incorporated in some way, but (at first) he wasn’t sure if he would be able to get them around the time of our wedding. So, I originally went with cabbage roses instead (because they look very similar to peonies). Well, the week of our wedding, Sam called me and said that he found white peonies for about the same price as the cabbage roses — which is actually a steal because usually peonies are much pricier than any kind of rose! I was so excited! The fact that he remembered that detail of me loving peonies and he went out of his way to call me and offer to switch up my order made me feel so special and made me love this company even more. Needless to say, I haven’t used a different florist ever since! It’s the little things (although, a big thing to me) that really mean the most!

Sam Franklin is one of the nicest, most genuine people that you will ever meet. He truly wants each bride to be ecstatic with the results and to stick within her budget, so he does all that he can to make the visions come to life without totally breaking the bank. He literally went above and beyond more than we ever expected for our wedding. I didn’t have to worry about setting up any table arrangements, and our families didn’t have to bother with taking anything that we rented back to him right after the wedding was over. Sam Franklin and his team did it all – and they did an amazing job! We couldn’t have been any more pleased with our florals. The flowers and arrangements were simple enough to not overpower any of the character in our venue or overpower any of our dresses / tuxes, but they were also substantial enough to add an extra touch of elegance to the whole day!

You probably noticed that we had a lot of greenery involved in our wedding florals. I’ve personally just always loved the look of mixing and matching different kinds of greenery, so I thought that mixing it in with our bouquets and arrangements added a touch of elegant glam when paired with the white and ivory florals. Well fast forward about six months after our wedding and come to find out, the 2017 Pantone Color of the Year is none other than greenery. I guess we will be seeing even more of this trend throughout the 2017 wedding season (and you won’t hear me complaining 😉 )! This year, it’s known as the most popular ‘neutral’ for wedding florals!

If you have any questions regarding wedding flowers, florists or Samuel Franklin, please feel free to message me here! I’d love to help you out in any way that I can, and if you are looking for an amazing florist for your special day or just need to order an arrangement, I highly encourage you to check our Sam Franklin & his team!

Almost over the hump, beautiful babes – hang in there!
