If you follow along with me on Snapchat (@peyton.baxter) or my InstaStories (@peyton.baxter), then you got to see a lot of behind-the-scenes action of my girls’ weekend in Nashville with my cute lil Mama girl. We had a BLAST! It’s so nice to sometimes just get away and enjoy some time off doing some girly things.

One of our good family friends, Ray (who lives in Nash), invited us to go to a Christmas benefit concert that was being put on by Kelly Clarkson. It was called ‘Miracle On Broadway’ and the money raised went to local schools and charities in the Nashville community. I love this idea! The concert included performances by Kelly Clarkson, Reba, Kelsea Ballerini, Hunter Hayes, Ronnie Dunn, and many other country singers. It was so perfect to get all fired up for Christmas that is literally just around the corner now. Thanks so much Ray!!

black turtleneck | black asymmetrical skort | Free People otk socks | booties (similar – UNDER $40) | similar fur coat | similar necklace (Local girls – I got this one at Janice Ann’s Fashions!) – and here | earrings | sunnies | crossbody (sold out – linked similar) | nails | lips (shade: Ruby Woo)

I wore this festive (yet fashionable) look out to dinner and the concert that night. I wanted to keep it really stylish while still wearing some kind of red to be festive for the holidays. And to be completely honest, I wanted my feet to be comfy too because I was meeting my girlfriend, Kristen, out after the concert … so I wanted to be prepared in some comfy-ish heels – if that is even a thing, lol. With it being super chilly, I knew that I needed something on my legs to stay warm; however, my black otk heeled boots that I often wear probably weren’t going to be my best option for the night. They would have been great to pair with this outfit had it been a shorter night, but since it wasn’t going to be, I went with the same look that the otk boots would have given me, and I just replaced the boots with my Free People black otk socks and my black suede booties that were a more comfortable option. Same look, but a better feel for what I was wanting that night.

We went to dinner before the concert at a place called 5th and Taylor — ahhh! It was amazing. If you ever visit Nashville, you HAVE to go here. I really loved the atmosphere. After the concert, we walked down to the Omni Hotel to see the pretty Christmas decor (holy gorg, y’all!!) .. we heard some awesome music coming from upstairs, so needless to say, we followed it just to see what was going on! You never know who you’ll run into in a big city – especially Nash. Come to find out it’s an office holiday party – with free food, drinks, dancing & of course, a photo booth. Sooo, with an opportunity like this .. who wouldn’t crash the party?? LOL. Yep, we just walked on in and acted like we belonged. If you just look forward and act like you belong wherever you are, then usually no one will question it! (There’s your tip for the day, ha!) It really was so fun. But then, we ventured on over to the new Thompson Hotel in the Gulch area of Nashville to meet my up with my friend, Kristen, and her man. This hotel was amazing – complete with a roof top bar!

As Kristen and I were just chatting & catching up, here comes Kelsea Ballerini walking right by us. Well, hello – I just saw you in concert about an hour ago! (Like I said, you never know who you’ll run into in big cities, esp Nashville.) What was so ironic is that I had just been chatting with Kelsea’s wardrobe stylist, Krista Roser (she’s amazing y’all!), about 10 minutes prior to running into Kelsea at the Thompson! Anywho, I had never met Kelsea before, but I honestly kind of felt like I somewhat knew her because I hear about her all the time through some of our mutual friends (one friend being my girl, Laura Howard, who does my lashes — read about them HERE!). Kelsea is also from Knoxville, TN & it’s not a huge town, so it’s almost like everyone knows everyone (or at least knows someone who is acquainted with another person .. you get the point!!).

So … I went to introduce myself real quick. Our friend, Ray, is good friends with Kelsea’s manager, so Ray was already chatting with her. I never want to bother people like that while they are out just having a good time, but since they were already talking I was like ehh, why not. Many of you may not know this, but I grew up always wanting to be a fashion / wardrobe stylist, so now that I am in that industry, it’s always a smart idea to make as many connections as you can – even if that means walking right up to country music’s next biggest star and introducing yourself. After chatting with her for a minute, I realized that she is just the way all her friends describe her – sweet, fun and real. Some of the best traits a person can have if you ask me!

The next day in Nash, my mom and I went shopping and found some amaaaazing boutiques. Two Old Hippies – I’ve always heard of you, I finally visited and now I’m head over heels in love! We came home with a few new pieces to add to our closets, of course. I mean, what’s a girls’ trip without some good shopping time?!

What a fun weekend! It was such a blessing to get away with my sweet Mama for a couple of days! Do any of y’all have an fun trips planned for the holidays or even after Christmas?! What about New Years?? Teej and I are still trying to work up some plans for that so send any suggestions my way!
