Styling Oversized Capes

So, I’ve definitely been loooving this cape fashion that’s been happening recently. It’s easy to notice that I love anything that’s ‘oversized’, but I really love it whenever it’s an outerwear piece like a cape or a wrap because I can wear something a little more fitted underneath it. I’m guilty of sometimes wearing too many oversized pieces at once because I’ve always been drawn to the more loose-fitting, ‘carefree’ pieces. So, I have to remind myself to keep a good mix between the two styles – fitted / oversized.

Teej (of course) helps me remember to wear more fitted pieces, because well, he’s a dude haha! And since I know he likes that kind of stuff, I try to mix up my looks with a tasteful fitted dress (or jeans / top combo) & a looser-fitting cape or outerwear piece like this one:

This exact cape is already sold out, but I linked four of my favorites above that are SUPER similar & will go with a look just like this one.

Another one of my favorite ways that I like to style an oversized cape like this is with some super skinny jeans, pointy-toe pumps & a simple, fitted, white v-neck tee. The simplicity of these pieces pair so well with a more statement piece. It’s always best to let one part of your whole outfit stand out more-so than the other components. This strategy will ensure that you are not ‘trying too hard’. Sometimes, it’s easy to get carried away and overdo an #ootd. You never wanna be the person who looks like they have just tried way too hard to make an outfit work. Effortless style is always best! So, with the cape trends (& any statement looks, for that matter) being very popular right now and still continuing to grow, always try to keep that tip in mind. I have to even remind myself of this at times!

It’s a rainy Monday here in Tennessee, so I hope it’s prettier wherever you are at today .. If not, just come join me on the Hunter rain boots train today. 😉 (Speaking of Hunters, if you missed my recent post where I styled my pink ones, you can read that HERE!)

Have a great week, beautiful girls!

    • Hi Courtney!

Thanks so much for following along with love ‘n’ labels! That means the world to me.
I got this exact cape from TJ Maxx – can you believe it?! That’s most likely why it is sold out everywhere. The brand is PBO – Philosophy Blues Original. I’ll keep an eye out and let you know if I find this exact piece somewhere!

      xo!
