Friday Favorites: Laura Howard Lash Extensions

Hello gorgeous! Happpppy FriYAY!!

So, if you follow me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or Snapchat (@peyton.baxter), then you have probably seen me totally OBSESSING recently over these new little (or should I say big) additions to my eyes. That’s right – I got some lash extensions and they. are. FAB!

I am totally in love with them for many different reasons, and since getting the lashes, I have gotten a TON of questions about them from a bunch of you all. So I thought, what better way to share about my newest obsession and answer all your questions than through this week’s Friday Faves post?! I mean, they are my favorite new addition after all.

PS – Read all the way through to make sure you don’t miss out on the 20% OFF deal!

So … without further ado, here they are! (Ah! They can really make a girl feel just fabulous – we all deserve that feeling every once in awhile ladies.)

Here’s the back story:

I’ve always had somewhat longer eyelashes (PTL) – however, very thin. It was always hard for me to get that ‘volume’. Plus, is there really a such thing as too long eyelashes? I had always tip toed around the idea of getting extensions, and I knew I wanted to try them at some point to see if I would like them.

I am a natural blonde (although I do get lighter highlights to brighten it up around my face), so being a blonde also means that you get BLONDE eyelashes. In other words, they are pretty much nonexistent and invisible with no mascara on. 😉 I am definitely not one of those girls who has to wear makeup 24/7, but sometimes at the beach or the lake or the pool, I would love to be able to still look like I have at least some lashes since I usually don’t wear makeup to places like that. Luckily, these extensions are very black, which is amaaaazing. The first night after I got them, I didn’t even wear any mascara and it looked like I had spent forever doing my makeup, when in reality, I did my brows and threw on some bronzer & lipstick in the car in about 2 minutes flat.

So, now you are probably wondering what lash queen is behind all of this! Her name is Laura Howard, and she is a licensed esthetician who owns her own studio (which, may I add, is located in THE CUTEST loft!). Laura is truly an angel on Earth. I have never felt so comfortable lying there talking to someone (who I had just met) for 2 hours. Laura is an ‘instant friend’ kinda gal! Her beauty doesn’t only exist in her eyelashes – it radiates from inside her.

Now, I’ve gathered all of the questions you all have been asking:

1. Will this ruin my natural eyelashes?

Trust me, this was the first question that I asked Laura before getting the extensions. And the verdict: NOPE! As long as you don’t try to pull the extensions out on your own, then your natural lashes should be fine. Think about it … if you try to pull one of the extensions out (which btw it’s connected to your natural lash), then obviously it will rip out your own lash with it. Makes sense! (If at anytime you needed them off for some reason, Laura has the abilities and tools to take them off safely for you.)

2. Does the application hurt?

No, absolutely not. Laura is VERY gentle and nothing about the application process hurts.

3. Did they hurt the next day?

Nope! Not at all. When I woke up, it felt just like my natural eyelashes. Now, when I looked in the mirror, I may have had a few out of place of course (lol!) but thankfully, Laura gave me a clean mascara brush to comb through them so that they stay ‘pretty’.

4. Do they feel heavy on your eyes like the strips of false eyelashes from the store?

Noooo! I couldn’t believe it either. I could have sworn that I would have a little bit of that ‘false lash strip’ feeling, but when she was done, I didn’t even feel like I had anything new on my eyes. Then I looked in the mirror and was like ‘THESE ARE FABULOUS!’. Best of both worlds!

5. Did it take awhile to get use to them?

Going back to number 4 … it took no time at all to get used to them because I couldn’t even feel that they were there once they were on me.

6. How long is the application process?

It depends. If it is your first time and you need a full set (like me), it takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. But for me, it was SO relaxing. These days, I am insanely busy and very rarely have even 10 minutes to lie down and do literally nothing but relax. No phone, no tablet, no computer, no meetings, etc etc etc. It was actually amazing for me, to be completely honest!! I’m really looking forward to going back so I can have an excuse to chill for a minute.

If you are just going for a fill-in, it doesn’t take as long at all, but the times will vary depending on what type of fill-in you are getting (2 or 3 or 4-week, for example).

7. How long do the extensions last before I have to get a fill-in?

Of course, it’s going to be different for everyone, but typically they will last anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks.

8. Can you wear mascara?

Yes! It’s best to put the mascara mainly on the tips of the lashes (instead of putting a ton at the base of the eye) to make them last longer.

9. Can you get them wet?

Yes, you can get them wet 24 hours after the application.

10. What is your favorite thing about them?

Ahh … how can I choose just one thing?! I LOVE that I don’t have to wear mascara everyday if I don’t want to. That cuts down the time of the getting ready process, which I am always for cutting down on that time. I also love that these look ‘natural’, if that makes sense. I have seen some lash extensions from other companies before and they just don’t have a natural look to them. They don’t even look like extensions – more like spiders’ legs lol, you know what I mean! 😉

I also love that Laura has so many options for you to choose from – longer, thicker, more dramatic, only upper lashes, only lower lashes, both upper & lower … and the list goes on. She tailors it strictly to whatever the customer wants.

11. Is there a certain kind of makeup remover you have to use?

Yes. Anything will be fine as long as it is OIL-FREE. (PS – Most packaging will say oil-free right on the front so it is easy to tell.)

12. Did you get lower lashes too?

Yep! And I am SO glad that I did. I started to hold off to make sure it wouldn’t be ‘too much’, but I went ahead and got them & they completely finished the whole look I wanted. I love them!

13. What is Laura Howard’s pricing?

Full application: $200 … Fill-ins: $50-$75 (20% off coupon below!!)

14. How can I book an appointment?
