Friday Faves: What Our Favorite Couples Teach Us About Love

Happy FriYAY, beautiful! Since we are, in fact, celebrating the big L word for the next few days, I decided that today I would share a little bit about some of my favorite couples and what they teach us about this amazing thing called love.

Surely you know by now that I am a huge hopeless romantic – always have been. I’m one of those girls who always believed in fairytales growing up (and I still do). I always wondered who my own Prince Charming would be. Thankfully, God brought a really special man into my life at the perfect time who showed me a new meaning to love. Now, I get to call that man my husband. He’s the one who will be the father to my children someday. The one who has been there beside my family through some of the most difficult times. The one who was by my side when I had a serious health scare. The one who helped me to reach my dreams of cheering in college. The one who supports me and encourages me in my career daily (which is not an easy task since I’m so hard on myself). And most importantly, the one who loves me despite all of my flaws (& trust me, there are plenty lol). He will always be there. I can always count on him. Our love is something that words really just can’t describe. After years of growing together, you realize that life teaches you so many amazing lessons about this thing called love. No, it’s not always perfect. No, it’s not always easy. No, I don’t expect a flawless future together. But, with all of that said … I can say that when you find that special one who literally takes your breath away, makes you laugh, and makes your heart feel a special, mad, crazy kind of love, I think you’ve found the one.

Some may argue that the love we see in movies is not real. I disagree. It may not be real in some relationships (I mean, that may not be the relationship you are supposed to be in), but I fully believe that the Allies & Noahs that we see in movies is real in many people’s lives. Today, I’m sharing a few of my favorite couples that we all adore and what they teach us about love.

 1. Love is love.

One thing Rose and Jack taught us:

It truly doesn’t matter where you came from, your background, or how you were raised. Love is love. Love the other person because of who they are as an individual. High class, low class. Whatever it may be, it really doesn’t matter because at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is your happiness. And do not let anyone tell you otherwise. You can learn a lot of valuable lessons from someone who was raised a little differently than you were. If the love you two share is strong enough, and it introduces you to something you have never felt before, it is worth pursuing. You never know when the next Jack will walk into your life!

 2. Love is timeless.

I mean, who doesn’t long for a relationship like these two? Noah and Allie’s love reminds me of Rose and Jack’s because they each came from totally different backgrounds. However, that didn’t stop them. We all could see how crazy they were about each other. Along with that, we learned from these two that love is simply timeless. Even after their highest of highs and lowest of lows, time together and time apart, Noah was there. He was there when Allie actually needed him the most. And that’s what love is all about. It’s not always going to be simple. But when you find the one who will be by your side until the end of time, you better hold on tight. Because he is something really special!

3. Love is crazy.

Amen to that! The best kind of love is the crazy kind. The crazy, mad, head over heels kind of love. The love that literally sweeps you off your feet and ignites something in you that you’ve never felt before. I never felt anything like this until I met TJ, and it’s something that you can’t begin to describe, but I hope for everyone to feel this at some point in their life because it is so special and irresistible. I knew I was literally crazy about him when I realized that I would literally put myself in front of a bullet for him. And I know he would do the same for me. Chuck and Blair were the same way. If you watched GG, you know that they definitely had a crazy kind of love, and at the end of the day, they would have done absolutely anything to make sure the other person was genuinely happy and safe.

4. Love has no bounds.

And one of my favorite love stories of all time … Carrie and Mr. Big. These two lovebirds teach us that love truly has no bounds. I mean, Mr. Big traveled across the world all the way to Paris to get his girl. After ten years of ups, downs, breakups, and makeups, Carrie and Mr. Big finally realized that they were simply made for each other. However, they only realized this after he stood her up yet again … on their wedding day. After something like that, most women would have never spoken to that person again (which for awhile, Carrie didn’t). But then, history once again repeated itself, and these two ended up back together and happier than ever. We can learn from them that no matter the circumstances or the past experiences, the heart will ultimately make up your decision for you. It doesn’t matter how long you have been together, how many times you have broken up, how hurt you have been … at the end of the day, the heart will love who it wants to love, and no matter how long you have to wait or how far you have to go to make it happen, it will be worth it. When it comes to true love, you have to fight for it, defend it, and sometimes even go to great lengths to make it work. Love has no bounds!

We’re never guaranteed another day here on Earth, so leave the petty stuff behind and fall madly, deeply in love with the person you’re meant to be with for your whole life. When you look around, this life is pretty great, and the people in it are the best part of it all. And keep in mind, amazing love isn’t limited to just significant others … it could be a parent, a sister, or even a best friend. Whatever the case may be, remember to show them some extra love this Valentine’s Day. 😉

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you all have a fabulous, cheesy, sappy weekend full of love!
